Oh, my friend. I know how tempting it is to not forgive.
To hang onto the hurt and pain and pretend it is keeping us safe. When it is really just walling us in. Isolating our hearts and soul from the world that awaits.
Sometimes the anger feels good. The anger provides us with a moment of feeling powerful. As if the power we think that was taken from us rises again. However, we are confused because our power was never taken, just misplaced and hidden by the emotional injury.
We can be angry.
We can be so angry that we could break a brick wall with our fist, that we can shout to the world how pissed we are, that we cry and fight to keep others out of our hearts because they can’t be trusted.
Anger has its place, however, anger takes so much work. It is hard to stay mad for years. The effort and toll it takes on your mind, body, and soul…. is just not worth it to keep bringing it into the future.
Then we need to let go.
And begin to be willing to forgive. Forgiveness is NEVER saying what someone did to hurt you is okay. It is telling yourself that you are freeing yourself from this ache that won’t go. That this pain doesn’t get to be fed anymore. And you are setting yourself free.
Free from living in pain, fear, and anger daily. Even if it is only in fleeting moments.
Forgiveness is saying that YOU have the right to live the best life you can create. And damn it, YOU will live this life to your fullest. That you will enjoy the moments you are gifted. You will laugh so hard your belly hurts. Tears of joy will pour from your eyes. Love will be your greatest and deepest experience you will ever have.

You are worth this practice of forgiveness. Life wasn’t meant to only be pain. Lots of joy is supposed to be sprinkled in as well.
